1st edition, 1st printing. Signed by Raymond Chapman on the half-title, ‘best wishes, Raymond Chapman, April 1972’. In blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. Coloured endpapers. 8vo. Boards very slightly rounded and faded at spine ends. Text block edges notably toned. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust jacket, not price clipped. Jacket is very gently rubbed on edges in places, browned at margins of inner flaps, and now protected in an archival quality Mylar wrapper fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. One of the most valuable contributions to modern literary and Christian thought of the mid-20th century.
