Ninth edition. xii, 192pp, with an introduction by Sir James Bland Burges. Half bound in calfskin over marbled boards. All edges sprayed. Deep brown endpapers. 12mo. Heavily rubbed at edges and joints, spine leather crumbling at tips, cracked across, with some loss at head of spine. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Ownership lady of Frederica Sophia Broke (nee Mure) on the front pastedown endpaper. Broke was the author of a diary recording an 1834 journey from Boston to Niagara Falls then to Quebec, New York. Progress of the Pilgrim Good Intent is a loose sequel and/or response to Pilgrims’ Progress. It was originally published, in 1800, anonymously; but the introduction to the 1814 edition (this edition) by her brother, revealed the Scottish writer, Mary Ann Burges as the author.
