James Bond in the Cinema

First edition, first impression.  176pp, with numerous black and white photographic illustrations, many of them movie stills.  Red cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine.  8vo.  Cloth a little bruised at spine tips, perhaps a tad dull. Upper text block edge a little dust spotted.  Internally neat. clean, bright and tight.  In its original, strikingly illustrated dust wrapper, not  clipped, a little browned and gently rubbed on edges in places.  

Australian freelance writer and film critic John Brosnan (1947-2005) captures the tongue in cheek suspense of the Bond thrillers as he describes, in grand detail, virtually every sequence of Dr No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and Diamonds are Forever.  He explains how scenes, sequences and tense moments were made as he explores the history of Eon Productions and the team who brought Sean Connery as Bond to screen.  There’s also a useful appendix on Casino Royale, which was made by a different team, and other film productions which tried to hang on the coattails of the success of Eon Production’s films.
