First edition thus, first impression. 64pp. Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt-stamped lettering on upper panel. Deckled edges. 12mo. Cloth rounded at corners and spine ends. Text block edges toned. Tanning on free endpapers. Previous owner’s name neatly inked on front free endpaper, dated 1914 else internally neat, clean and tight.

Nine of poems included in this publication previously appeared in a booklet printed for private circulation; four others had previously appeared in journals, the rest appear in print for the first time.

Wilfred Thorley was an English writer, translator and poet, perhaps best remembered for his poem, ‘Chant for Reapers’ which is included both in this volume and in the Oxford Book of English Verse. Confessions was his first collection of poetry to be published. Now a hard to find title. A sweet little volume of chants and poems.
