Illustrated and decorated boards with gilt titles to front and spine (boards rubbed at edges, rounded and rubbed at corners, beginning to give at spine ends, marks on verso). Previous owner’s gift inscription on front free endpaper, dated 1894; tissue-guarded, illustrated extra title page. Endpapers cracked at gutters, one signature standing proud and loosened, occasional mild spotting and a few light signs of fingering).

A lovely, vintage volume of this classic work, notable for what might now be considered politically incorrect illustrations.
