Cornwell’s Saxon Stories (also known as Saxon Tales or Saxon Chronicles) is a series of historical novels set in the time of the birth of England in the 8th and 9th centuries.  This is the third volume in the series.  The first ten novels in the series were adapted for television under the title The Last Kingdom.
