Two small 16pp booklets. Stiff red card covers, stapled, with black lettering (gently rubbed at edges, a little marked and faded, oxidized around staples). The title page of the 1939-40 edition has a single crease. Two booklets giving the rules for the Leeds Royal Arch Council in 1939-40 and in 1940-41. Each one also lists the officers of the council for that year. Royal Arch Councils are unique to the masonic province of Yorkshire West Riding. Leeds was the first to be established, in 1922. The Royal Arch is the continuation of Craft Freemasonry. Its members, called Companions, meet in Chapters under a Grand Chapter. Chapters are ruled over by three Principals, who rule conjointly, and the Grand Chapter is ruled over by three Grand Principals, with a Pro First Grand Principal when the First Grand Principal is a Royal Prince. These rules then give a unique, if brief, insight into the history and organisation of freemasonry in the north of England. 48mo.
