312pp. Quarter bound in brown cloth over blue paper-covered boards; gilt ‘Caesar’ on front, gilt titles on spine. Sun faded spine, ends bumped. Top edges of boards faded, stains on rear. Slightly dusty top text block edge, other edges untrimmed. ‘Map’ endpapers. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Dust jacket has very light shelf wear, chipping to edges, mirrors book damage, price clipped. 8vo. Printed in Baskerville type on Arnold’s mould-made paper. This volume is dedicated by the editor to Winston Churchill, who also had difficulties to surmount. Limited to 320 numbered copies of which this is Number 143. Four wood engravings; section headings and frontispiece.
