First edition, first impression.  212pp.  Red cloth-covered boards with gilt decoration and lettering.  12mo.  Cloth is worn, marked and faded, rubbed and rounded at corners and ends of heavily sunned spine.  Boards a little bowed.  Text block edges dull and spotted.  Bookplate on front paste down and previous owner’s name pencilled on the front free endpaper.  Some spotting and smudging on first and last few leaves, scarring and pencil annotations on rear paste down.  

A fair, reading copy only, of this now hard to find biographical study of English novelist, Jane Austen.
