First edition, first printing. x, 302pp, with numerous black and white plate illustrations. Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering and decoration. Bevelled edges. 4to. Cloth is worn and marked, gently rubbed at corners and spine ends and little soiled along fore-edge. Text block edges darkened. Previous owner’s bookplate on front paste down. A hint of spotting on endpapers and first and last few true leaves else internally neat, clean and tight. In its original creased and torn dust wrapper with some loss around corners, spines and edges, lightly toned and shelf worn.
