16pp pamphlet with stitched binding. Paper covers heavily worn and discoloured, chapped at edges, spotted, short penciled phrase across top, now illegible. Pages toned throughout with edge wear and chapping, some spotting and rusting. Final leaf detached. An extract of the minutes of the 1798 Lent Assizes at York, concerning the trial and conviction of Peter Buck, a tanner, accused of robbing Richard Terry, a local Banker, of a substantial amount of money and a book, the case being heard before Mr Justice Rooke. The crime took place near the village of Farnham, close to Knaresborough, in Yorkshire. Includes a series of witness statements, as well as the allegations and Buck’s defence. Buck was sentenced to death by hanging.
