16pp stapled exhibition catalogue in printed stiff card wraps., with two in text vignette illustrations. 8vo. Card covers are worn, gently rubbed at edges, rounded on corners with lower leading corner rising. Internally neat, clean and tight barring a few minor signs of handling.
The centrepiece of this 1976 exhibition was a fragment of Chaucer’s Boethius together with its original binding, both formerly owned by William Blades, the fore-father of modern Caxton scholarship. An exhibition centred on writing about Caxton, rather than by Caxton, held in the library at the St Bride Institute – a library founded on Blades’ collection of books and pamphlets on the history of printing.
