Versuch einer gründlichen Violinschule (A Treatise on the Fundamental Principles of Violin Playing) is an instructional text on violin playing first published in 1756. Leopold Mozart’s work was influential at the time and remains as a scholarly source concerning 18th century violin performance and practice. Leopold Mozart (1719-1787) was a German composer, violinist and musicologist but is perhaps now best remembered as the father of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
