A new edition.  lxviii, 540, [10, publisher’s catalogue]pp.  Tissue-guarded, illustrated extra title page.  Red cloth-covered boards, richly decorative and illustrated.  Gilt titles fornt and spine.  All edges gilt.  Polished endpapers.  8vo.  Cloth is a little rounded at corners and spine ends, slightly rippled, mild mark on verso.  Prize presentation plate on front paste down, as well as a previous owner’s gift inscription, dated 1949 else internally neat, clean and tight. 

A lovely, vintage copy of this classic novel of slavery in the United States of America, notable for what might now be considered politically incorrect illustrations.
