The Thames of Henry Taunt

First edition, first impression.  x, 218pp, with maps and plentiful monochrome illustrations.  Black cloth-covered boards, gilt titles on the spine.  Maps on endpapers.  8vo.  Volume is neat, clean, bright and tight throughout barring a faint pencilled annotation on the front free endpaper stating ‘On loan from Robert’.  In its original illustrated, glossy dust wrapper. which appears to be in fine condition under its Brodart-style protective wrapper.  There is a little roughness in the Brodart covering along the rear fold and rear lower edge, with some minor scattered indentations on the rear panel.

Originally published in 1872 for the tourist, oarsman and angler, Henry Taunt’s map of the River Thames remains a classic of cartography.  This new edition, with an introductory biographical essays and over 30 additional Taunt photographs of the River Thames, vividly recalled the Thames of his era.
