13 consecutive issues of the Sunday Companion magazine, issued between March and June 1901, bound into a single volume. Green cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine. Folio. Cloth is a little worn and marked, gently pushed on corners, a little rubbed and rounded at spine ends. Endpapers tanned, with a previous owner’s name ad address pencilled on the front free endpaper. Magazine pages browned and brittle.
The Sunday Companion was a weekly religious journal of the 1890s and early years of the 20th Century. Self proclaimed as ‘Bright, Instructive and For All’, it contains stories, news and articles designed to be read on the Sabbath, the day of rest. With black and white illustrations throughout, it also contains many contemporary advertisements.
