The eighth, and final, general report on the Shapwick Project.  154pp, with occasional maps, tables and charts in text etc.  4to.  Laminated, illustrated strong card covers.  4to.  An ex university library copy with label on spine, usual markings on the endpapers and small label and annotation on the title page.  Covers a little shelf worn and gently pushed at corners and spine ends.  Internally neat, clean, bright and tight barring the stated library markings.

Shapwick is a large parish in the centre of Somerset.  There is only one major settlement in the parish, the village of Shapwick.  The Shapwick project began in October 1988 as an attempt to test the hypothesis that the present village and medieval field system were planned in the late Saxon period and had replaced an earlier Saxon settlement pattern of scattered farmsteads.  Preliminary reports were published annually.  This report, the eighth, is the last general roundup of the archaeology, research and findings of the project, although further reports on specific aspects were produced.
