Colour patterned endpapers, design taken from a printed silk calico manufactured in Manchester in 1924 and now held by the Victoria and Albert Museum. 12mo. Volume is neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. In its original matching dust wrapper, a little rubbed on corners and slightly shelf worn, with remains on price label on upper panel and price label on verso.
First published by Leonard and Virginia Woolf at the Hogarth Press in 1924, The Rector’s Daughter was F M Mayor’s (1872-1932) second published novel (following The Third Miss Symons (1913) and an elarler collection of short stories) and widely considered her masterpiece.
