Complete in 20 volumes. 6th revised and enlarged edition, later printing (1989). Illustrations in double columned text. All volumes uniformly bound in brown cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on blue relief on spine. Top edges sprayed brown. 4tos. Some very slightly pushed at spine bases, the occasional hint of shelf wear and a general dust dullness to the top text block edges else whole set is neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.

Gove’s Dictionary of Music and Musicians was first published, in four volumes, in 1879. An indispensable reference work covering the whole field of music and musician, it has gone through several editions since then. This, the 6th edition, is hugely enlarged from preceding editions and was the first to be published under the title the ‘New’ Grove’s Dictionary. It contains some 22,500 articles and 16,500 biographies.
