Undated but circa 1930s. 288pp with frontispiece and six further full page line drawings by Marjorie Anderson. Fully bound in publisher’s reddish-brown waxed leather, gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Top edge gilt. Reddish-brown endpapers. Housed in a matching slipcase. 16mo. Previous owner’s name lightly inked on front paste down, else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. The slipcase is a little scuffed on corners and edges, with significant indentation and crease along spine. A lovely, vintage but vibrant copy of this classic work, still with its original slipcase. Part of Collins’ Library of Classics series (also known as Illustrated Pocket Classics, Pocket Classics, New Classics, Illustrated Pocket editions – despite the name of the series changing over time the series remained coherent over time).
