Unpaginated but c. 1000pp. With antique coloured maps and engraved views. King James version of the old and new Testaments (‘translated out of the original tongues, and with the former translations diligently compared and revised’). Bound in full black calf leather, blind embossed, five raised bands and gilt lettering to spine. All edges gilt, with delicate gauffering. Inner gilt dentelles. Boards just a little worn with a couple of minor small scuffs. Endpapers a little toned and edge marked (with the impression of the inner dentelles), and some faint occasional spotting on first and last leaves only. The front endpaper has a short tear across the lower corner. An exquisite, compact bible, typical of the mid-19th century passion for indulgent religious books.
