The Fellowship of the Ring, Being the First Part of the Lord of the Rings

First edition, fifth impression (jn a sixth impression dust wrapper).  424pp, with two-colour folding map at rear.  Red cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on spine.  Top edge sprayed red. 8vo.  Cloth is a little tired, softly rubbed rounded at corners and at ends of a compressed spine, gilt lettering is dull. Hint of toning to softened text block edges. Previous owner’s name, dated March 1957, neatly inked on the front free endpaper.  Small corner crease to last leaf and three inch bumped crease on the inner edge of folding map.  In its original, illustrated dust wrapper, worn all over, rubbed and bumped at edges with some minor loss around corners, more heavily rubbed and softened at ends of a sunned spine, shelf worn.  Not price clipped, states sixth impression on front inner flap.  Dust wrapper now protected in an archival-quality Mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.
