Two volumes bound as one. xiv, 236, iv, 74pp, plus maps and illustrations, with five fold-out maps. Black full leather binding, with gilt lettering on spine. All edges gilt. Delicate inner gilt dentelles. Black endpapers. 8vo. Leather is worn, rubbed and scuffed on corners and around spine. Two previous owner’s bookplates on the front endpapers, one belonging to HRH The Duke of Albany (the eighth and youngest sone of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert), and the other of John and Kathleen Court (co-authors of The New Testament World). Also a few small marks on endpapers. Some spotting on first and last few leaves else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.
