First edition, first impression.  xiv, 188pp.  Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering and pale blue relief on on the spine.  Text block edges sprayed green.  Green endpapers.  8vo.  Cloth slightly rounded on upper corners and spine head.  Internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  In a worn and bumped dust wrapper, a little toned and chipped along upper edge.  

Friedman (1924-2007) was professor of Education and the University of South Carolina, at previously at Northwestern University and UC Berkley; he served as metrologist in the US Army Air Force during world war two.  As founder of the Institute for Evidence-based Decision-making, he contributed widely to the field of education as well as in psychology and understanding of human behaviour.
