Linen enriched endpapers. All edges gilt. Colour plate frontispiece and further colour and monochrome plate illustrations, eight colour maps at end. (Covers gently rubbed at spine joints and tips; internally neat, clean and fresh. A beautifully inscribed dedication – to Harry Lumpton – fills the presentation page while opposite and touching dedicated from his daughter presenting this bible, after Harry’s passing to ‘the best possible guardian’, gifted as a ‘celebration of the friendship you shared’. Several signatures on the Visiting Brethen pages). King James’s Authorised Version of the Old and New Testaments, preceded by an essay by H L Haywood on Freemasonry and the Bible, and followed by references of especial interest to Freemasons and aids to Bible Study.
