First UK edition, first printing (published in the same year in the USA by Charles L Webster under the title Mark Twain’s Library of Humor). xvi, 720, 32, with tissue guarded frontispiece and 196 further illustrations. In decorative red cloth boards with gilt lettering front and spine. Decorated endpapers. 8vo. Cloth a little dull, lightly rubbed at edges, gently rounded at spine ends, partially mottled on verso. Previous owner’s name, dated 1892, on front free endpaper. Tissue guard a little browned else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.
