Minor cracking on hinges, with a previous owner’s bookplate (J G Ronksley) on the front free endpaper. Pages a little toned in margins else internally neat and clean. Firmly bound.
J G Ronksley identified on the bookplate is likely James George Ronksley (1851-1916), a prominent antiquarian and local historian based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, who devoted much of his life to transcribing and preserving thousands of pages of historical documents, deeds, registers and surveys relating to Sheffield and its past. Many of his books and papers are preserved in the Ronksley Collection in the care of Sheffield City Archives.
