520pp, with 16 black and white plate illustrations and four full page line drawings by Warwick Goble. In blue cloth-covered boards decorated with blind rules and gilt titles on spine. Top edge sprayed blue. 16mo. Boards a little rounded at corners, slightly rubbed at spine ends. Slightly cocked. Text block edges mildly toned. Previous owner’s name neatly inked on front paste down else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust jacket, worn and chapped and rubbed at edges, rubbed around spine with minor loss at spine tips, faded over spine, price clipped. Hard to find in this edition, with illustrations and dust jacket which feature images from the 1946 film version of Great Expectations starring John Mills and Valerie Hobson. To the best of our knowledge, there have only ever been two movie tie-in editions in the World’s Classics series- this one and an edition of Mutiny on the Bounty featuring Charles Laughton from the 1936 movie.
