First, and likely only, edition. 14pp. In blue printed card wrappers, stitched(worn at edges, a little marked, one corner curled). The pamphlet appears to have been folded lengthwise at some point. Internally neat and clean, pages worn at edges with some minor corner creasing. This little pamphlet, written by Bro. Edmund Haigh in the 1870s describes and explains the allegory behind Charles Rosenburg’s 1878 painting ‘Freemasonry and Civilization’, which was on show at the Freemason Tavern in London. Rosenburg, a mid-ranking artist, died suddenly the following year. Between them, Haigh and Rosenburg were attempting to explain the link between Freemasonry and serenity. 32mo.
