Reprint.  x, 206pp, with colour plate frontispiece and numerous further black and white plate illustrations.  Sky blue cloth-covered boards with black lettering to spine.  8vo.  Cloth rounded at corners and spine ends, faded around extreme edges.  Text block edges spotted, as are endpapers and first and last few leaves.  Some pencil annotations on the first front free endpaper.  In its original illustrated paper dust wrapper, toned to brittle, rubbed and chipped at edges, small area of loss around the spine head, spotted internally.

A blend of personal observations, history and folk lore regarding once flourishing ports in England which have disappeared either physically or from national consciousness.  The author considers Yarmouth, Aldeburgh, Dunwich, Orford, Reculver, Richborough, Ebbsfleet, Sandwich, Winchelsea, Rye, Fordwich and many more.
