1st US edition, first printing. 274pp, with map illustration. In black cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. Deckled edges. Bright red endpapers. 8vo. Boards a very slightly rounded at corners and spine ends. Some spotting on text block edges. Mild crack in endpapers over hinge, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original worn dust jacket, lightly rubbed at edges, chipped on corners and spine ends, some shelf wear and marks visible on verso. Dust jacket now protected in an archival-quality Mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.
