Not dated, but printed prize plate is dated 1901. Decorated red cloth-covered boards, depicting stylised band associates and carry chair, under a palm tree (boards a little rubbed on edges, rounded on corners). With over seventy illustratrations, typical of the period but now likely some would be considered of dubious taste. Internally a little occasional spotting, and light toning in endpapers. Elegant prize presentation panel printed on front free endpaper, indicating that the volume was awarded to one Nellie Couchman for charitable works y the Congregational Sunday School in Faversham, Kent in 1901. The semi-fictionalised story of a children’s band from London touring India and the Bengal in the latter part of the 19th century, as a Christian mission.
