Signed and inscribed by the author. Circa 200pp, with plentiful monochrome illustrations as a final section. Illustrated, printed card wraps. 8vo. A little gentle edge wear to card covers, mild crease to rear panel, and some minor signs of handling throughout else clean, bright and tight throughout.
The author took as his starting point for this history of Hollow Bottom – a once rural area of Kent now absorbed into the London Borough of Bromley – a photograph of Prince Frederick visiting Hollow Bottom. The decades covered in this bolume were times of great change in the are and throughout the country, transforming lives of landowners and the poor as well as such places surrounding the ever growing London: Bromley, not so long around a small market town is now the largest London Borough. And so, although Hollow Bottom is the focus of the work, it is as much a social history as local history.
