Salman Rushdie: Sentenced to Death

First edition, first impression.  258pp, plus a central section on monochrome plates.  Quarter bound in ruby cloth over blue cloth-covered boards, gilt titles on the spine.  8vo.  Cloth a little rounded at spine tips.  Upper text block edge a little dust dulled.  Two previous owner’s names on front free endpaper, one on a label, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.   In a rather shelf worn dust wrapper, rubbed and bumped at edges.

Salman Rushdie was in the latter part of the 20th century, the most famous living novelist in the world.   Weatherby has written a revealing biography of this most elusive of writers, which focuses on the events following the publication of The Satanic Verses and the death sentence imposed on Rushdie by the Ayatollah Khomeini.
