First edition, first impression.  First domestic edition printed by Billing & Sons Ltd, No full stop after ‘Feanor’ on line 4, page330 and an italicised ‘and’ in ‘Lord of the Waters and King of the Sea’ on line 39, page 352 (points of issue as called for).  365pp, with a large two-colour folding map at rear.  Blue cloth-covered board with gilt lettering to spine.  Top edge sprayed blue.  8vo.  Cloth is clean and crisp, just a little pushed at spine tips.   Hint of foxing on fore edge.  Last two leaves have a tiny curl on the lower corner.  Gift inscription neatly inked on the front free endpaper else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  In its original dust wrapper, price clipped, just a little bumped on extreme edges and slightly shelf worn.  Dust wrapper now protected in an archival-quality Mylar sleeve, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.
