English and Latin parallel text. CLXX pp. Laminated, illustrated stiff card covers. 8vo. Some gentle edge wear to card covers, with a crease over the upper leading corner on the rear panel else neat, clean, bright and tight.
Jordanes was a 6th century Roman public servant who turned his hand to writing history. While he also wrote of the history of the City of Rome, Getica, his history of the Goths, is his best-known work. It is the only surviving classical work on the early history of the Goths. It is in effect a summary of the much large work, now lost, which Jordanes compiled in just three days: that may be why much of his language appears laconic.
