First UK edition, first printing (previously published in a limited edition in the USA). xii, 200pp, with chess boards play illustrations.  Quarter bound in green cloth over red paper-covered boards, with black title label and rook logo on upper panel, black lettering on spine.  8ov.  Boards are worn and scuffed, gently rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends.  A little toning on free endpapers.  Previous owner’s name and date neatly inked on the title page.  The last four leaves of the volume a little bumped and crease along the long edge (not affecting text).  In its original dust wrapper: wrapper is worn, rubbed and chipped on edges, some mild ridged creasing and visible shelf wear on verso.  Dust wrapper now protected in a Mylar-style protective sleeve, not adhered to the jacket or volume.  The sleeve itself is a little shelf worn.

A now hard to find classic text and practical guide to the pursuit of chess problem construction.
