Horses in the Valley

First edition, first printing. 224pp, with line drawing frontispiece and further line drawings in text, all by Stanley Lloyd. In green cloth-covered boards with stamped decoration of a horse’s head on the front panel, brown titles on spine. 8vo. Cloth worn, lightly rubbed on edges, rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, cloth fraying at spine base, faded a spine end, boards a little soft. Upper text block edge a little dust marked. Previous owner’s name pencilled twice on front endpapers, else internally neat, clean and bright. In its original dust jacket, heavily worn, chapped all round edges, chipped with small loss at spine ends and corners, shelf wear visible on verso, some minor spotting on front panel, partially cracked along fore-edge. Dust jacket now protected in an archival quality Mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. A very hard to find pony story, especially with its dust jacket. The story is unusual among the genre of pony stories in that it is told from the perspective of the pony; and unusually penned by a male author.
