Not dated but circa 1910. pp229-309. Contains Iosagan, The Priest, Barbara and Eoineen of the Birds. In plain heavy paper wrappers. Wrappers rubbed, chipped at edges, crack almost the length of spine, leaving front cover partially – almost wholly – detached, tanned and a little marked. Internally some mild tanning, bookplate and stamp of Harlech College inside front cover, and smaller stamp in first page and inside rear cover, no title page, edge worn. An important little book, being Padraic Mac Pairais’s first published book of short stories. Pearse was Chairman of the Provisional Government in Ireland, signed the Proclamation of the Irish Republic, which he read publicly on Easter Monday, 25 April 1916 outside the Government Post Office in Dublin. Pearse believed that language was an inherent part of nationhood and national identity.
