In its original dust jacket (bumped and a little chipping at edges, some flat creasing and a little spotting, especially on spine; more heavily spotting on interior, some minor loss around corners on reverse. MacMunn tells how Semiramis devised the mishandling of her male slaves; how both Ancient Greece and Rome enslaved their neighbours ruthlessly; how slavery came to Britain and Ireland; the story of the Corsairs and all slave derivations – the slave and Cadet systems of Central Asia, the slave dynasties of Delhi, janissaries and mamelukes, leading to the exploitation of African slaves and takes the story up to the League of Nations in the early part of the 20th century attempting to alleviate the situation of some 5 million slaves around the world.
