Second edition,  126pp, plus a central section of monochrome plate illustrations, with diagrams and tables in text.  Printed light card wraps.  Transparent scale  in loosely laid in pocket envelope. 8vo.  Covers are worn and faded, rubbed around edges and slightly curling and rounding on corners, corner crease on rear panel.  Small scar inside the front cover (likely were the pocket envelope was once attached), with the first gutter a little strained.  A few minor signs of handling else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.

A detailed survey of the Lens Key method of timber identification, developed by the Forest Products Research Institute in the 1940s to identity various types of hardwoods and commercially-used timbers.  The transparent scale required to deploy the Lens Key methodology is included in a small pocket loosely laid into the volume.  Very hard to find with transparent scale.
