First edition, first impression.  100pp, with numerous black and white illustrations in text, colour plate frontispiece.  Green cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering front and spine.  8vo.  Volume is very slightly rubbed on extreme corners and spine tips, slight mustiness, else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.  In its original dust jacket, not price clipped, a little shelf worn, lightly bumped on extreme edges, tiny rub to upper leading corner.

A history of the pioneering timber firm founded by James Alsford, a firewood merchant, in London in 1882 covering its first 100 years.  The history of Alsfords is also an account of the rapid and drastic changes in the timber industry in the 20th century.
