Sewing Magic

262pp, copiously illustrated in black and white, including patterns for sewing projects.  Blue publisher’s cloth-covered boards, gilt-stamped lettering front and spine.  Cloth rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends, looking a little tired.  Internally there’s some offset tanning on endpapers and a previous price inked on the front free endpaper, else internally neat, clean and tight.  Paper dust wrapper, heavily worn and rubbed, scuffed all round edges and folds, with significant loss on front lower edge and rear upper edge.

A now evocative collection of dress-making ideas and projects, with some small patterns, for vintage 1950s clothing and accessories, with sections on skirts, blouses, bolerus, jackets, capes, dresses and clothing for children, etc.  The designs for Cowboy Bolero and Chaps or Skirt – fancy dress costumes for boys and girls – are particularly enchanting.
