You can browse and search our online catalogues of vintage, collectible and second hand books for sale on the ABEbooks BookAddiction storefront

Most of our stock is somehow special – particularly interesting, quirky, beautiful or desirable – rather than modern and commonplace books (we do not often sell, for instance, contemporary fiction in paperback).

Our specialist areas – which might collectively be described as beautiful books – include:

  • Finely bound and illustrated books
  • Signed and first edition books, including modern fiction firsts
  • Vintage fiction, particularly vintage and Golden Age detective fiction and vintage romance
  • Classic literature
  • Series books

Some authors and illustrators, often our personal favourites, tend to be strongly represented as well:

  • Howard Spring
  • A J Cronin
  • William Hazlitt
  • Rudyard Kipling
  • Arthur Rackham
  • Ralph Steadman
  • Reginald Heade
  • Talwin Morris

As well as serving book collectors and readers, we aim to unite students, researchers and the intellectually curious with the texts they need. So we also have catalogues featuring:

  • Local History books and related material (focusing mostly on Kent, London and the South East but interest stretches across the UK)
  • True Crime and Criminology
  • Parliaments and Politics

There are also quirky and unusual books – some of which illustrate the history of the book – and those with outrageous titles. We have a keen interest in series books, such as the Oxford World Classics hardback series, Everyman’s Library, and Nelson’s Winchester Classics (those lovely pocket-sized editions of classic literature and fine stories published with blue leatherette bindings and gilt gold finishing touches). Almost every collectible bookseller starts out as a book lover, perhaps shifting into book collecting before becoming a dealer. Our specialist areas then tend to reflect our own bookish interests. This accounts for the smattering of old books on cookery and food history, environmentally-kind buildings, life-styles, architecture and infrastructure and vintage engineering and manufacturing
