The fifth volume in the works of the Rev John Fletcher.  xxvi, 27-444pp.  Plainly bound in full brown calf’s leather.  12mo.  Boards heavily worn and marked, rubbed, scuffed and chipped all round edges, front panel detached.  Text block edges dust darkened.  Some spotting, soiling and marks on endpapers else internally neat, clean and tight barring a few minor signs of handling and use.  

John William Fletcher (1729-1785) was an English divine and Methodist leader.  Working with John Wesley as a key interpreter of Wesleyan theology in the late 1800s, he became of one Methodism’s first great theologians.  His Equal Checks and Scripture Scales – which clearly sets out his Arminian standpoint and supports Wesley further – was the first distinctively Wesleyan theological work published by someone other than John of Charles Wesley.
