First edition, first printing.  xi, [i], 316pp, with seventeen half-tone illustrations.  Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine.  8vo.  Cloth is worn and marked, rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, heavily rubbed at spine base. Text block edges and first and last few leaves moderately spotted.  Lacks front free endpaper, else internally neat and clean. Firmly bound.

Not a pretty copy but this is quite a hard to find title and can be pricey.  This copy is perfectly readable and a good reference/working copy.

Biography of Weetman Pearson, a rags to riches story of the man who made engineering and construction company Pearson & Son (today Pearson plc) a leading concern, and Liberal politician.
