[1916?] 24pp portfolio with 12 prints, in stiff card wrappers bound with cord, with Arts and Crafts style decoration and lettering. Small elephant folio (approximately 15.5 inches by 10 inches). Covers worn and lightly marked, rubbed around all edges, cracked along spine ends with some minor loss at head of spine. Internally, some wear at page edges and minor corner curling, else neat, clean, bright and tight, with prints clean and sharp. A collection of 12 drawings by artist Alner W Hall mostly of the Tower of London, done while the battalion he served with – the 104th Provisional Battalion – was stationed at the Tower of London during the First World War, including scenes such as St John’s Chapel, Traitors’ Gate, Byward Tower, London Bridge and Hampstead Heath. Very hard to find, and a wonderful snapshot of London scenes during the First World War.
