Bound in strong buckram with gilt titles and motifs (very gently rubbed at extremities). Top edge gilded and gorgeous deckled edges. Previous owner’s name on bastard title page. Very mild toning. First published in January 1898, this second, revised and enlarged edition was published six months later in June 1898 (after Gladstone’s death in May 1898). Handsome volume, bright for age.
