First edition, first impression. xii, 188pp, with black and white plate illustrations and some figures and maps in text. Black cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine. Top edge sprayed blue. Coloured maps on endpapers. 8vo. Boards very slightly rounded at corners and spine ends. Some spotting affecting text block edges, first and last few pages and dust wrapper. Internally neat, clean and tight. In its original dust wrapper, rubbed and bumped at edges, some crumbling at spine ends, a little shelf worn.
