First edition, first printing.  xvi, 428pp, with numerous half tone plate illustrations and further vignettes in text.  Yellow cloth-covered boards with red design and gilt lettering front and spine.  Top edge sprayed red.  8vo.  Cloth is a little worn and slightly soiled towards edges, gently rounded on corners.  Fore and lower text block edges lightly toned.  Internally neat, clean and tight.  In its original dust wrapper, worn, toned, chipped all round edges, with inner front flap absent.
